Perhaps the only food with Shortcuts integration
I want to thank you for making the shortcut integration. I’d request you please add more options into this. Like, adding a feature to select certain food items from a list. - there seems to be an option present, but it’s only returning list name and not items presents inside the list itself. This is great feature for someone, like me, why is just providing the ingredients to ChatGPT app and its give me step by step instructions to check a simple breakfast. Right now I am only able to send the entire list or soon to be expired. It would be great is there is a way to select the ingredients and upload to the ChatGPT app as input. You guys are life saver to me. Saves me so much time. Helps me get started with different mix of smoothies and healthy breakfast and helps me lose weight. Thank you for your work.
Love, love, love this app!!!
Would give it 10 stars if I could. 😀 function rich with ability to inventory your food in whatever location it is in the house, set status to show an item is open (and how much used if useful) and whether you’ve ending up throwing it away or eating it, set an alert to flag when it’s going out of date (including adjusting date if opening affects life), and push to a shopping list either automatically or manually. Then use the list to check off when bought and move that item to storage. And easy to share with the other half so we both manage it (although it would be great to do a share of all storages/shopping lists in one go rather than share each storage location/list individually). It takes effort to set up (depending on how much food you have) but so worth it. For the first time I was able to check in real time at the supermarket if I had an item already and therefore avoid buying it unnecessarily Plus it’s free, but well worth the ‘tip’ that I paid to them to acknowledge how happy I am with this app. Bravo to the developers and thank you so much for allowing me to get so organised 😂😂

Thank you so much. Only downloaded yesterday so am still getting to grips with it. Wanted a database to help prevent forgotten items lurking in a garage chest freezer and wasted. Looked at a few ‘recommended’ apps, but they all seemed to want to gather/sell on data and have links to 3rd parties/tracking across all media. A definite no from me. Then I came across this one. Wow. A breath of fresh air. No tracking, hopefully simple to use and no ‘bells and whistles’. So thank you so much. Seems just what I need. Have only added a few items so far as I want to understand the process before letting loose. But, cautiously, looks brilliant, and if it saves wasted food then should be adopted by everyone.
Just Gets Better
I started using FoodShiner a few months ago. I really liked it, and sent the largest tip, but still found a few things that bothered me plus some bugs in the Mac app. The developer was extremely friendly and responsive, and rather promptly fixed the issues with an update. You can’t ask for more, especially from an essentially free app. This app is extremely flexible, allowing organization and display of data in various useful ways. The notifications are excellent. There’s nothing else out there that comes even close to FoodShiner. One competing app that looks kind of decent has apparently been abandoned by its developer according to user reviews. About the only remaining change I’d like to see in FoodShiner is the ability to reorder the list of storages (Freezer, Fridge & Pantry). I encourage people to try the app and send a tip to reward the developer’s excellent work.
Love this app!!
This app makes it possible to easily keep track of foods, quantities, and expiry dates. Not only does it mean I no longer lose things at the bottom of my freezer, but when I’m at the grocery store, I know 100% whether I’m out of something or not. Less wasted food, better planning! One tweak I’m really hoping to see in an update is the ability to choose the quantity when using the “move” function. For instance if I have 10 chicken breasts in the chest freezer, I’d like the option to move 4 of them to the fridge freezer. Currently, I have to delete them from one and re-enter them in the other location. (“Consume” allows you to choose the quantity, so I’m really hoping that “move” will follow suit!)
Great food inventory app
I’ve been looking for an app that is intuitive and easy to use, to keep track of my freeze dried food inventory. This is that app. One of my favorite features is the ability to create custom locations and custom places within those locations. The only thing I would personally like to see added in a future revision would be the ability to add sub categories. EDIT: with the addition of tags, a subcategory field isn’t necessary. Keep up the good work!

Fantasic app
This is a fantastic app for keeping track of food items in your pantry, freezer, fridge or whatever. I’ve been using it for about 6 months and I’ve had a great experience. Its got a slight learning curve, but its easy to catch on to. Its very customizable so you can make it work for any situation. And even though its geared towards food, you can actually use it to inventory anything. Just set up your own products and storage areas. You can even take your own pictures to set up your own products, food or not. Hope the developer doesn’t mind non-food use! I use it for my freezer and pantry and I highly recommend this app. The developer is highly responsive to email. He needs more US users, and no, I have no connection to the developer. Daveroo
so helpful
i have trouble feeding myself everyday because of my adhd. unless food is directly in front of me, i’ll forget to eat entirely. i started to keep photos of food in my camera roll to show myself what i have in the kitchen and remind myself to eat. but this was really messy and i couldn’t really add info to the photos. this is SO much easier and simple. whenever i get groceries, i enter items into the app as soon as i put it away. when i open something or use something up, i make sure to enter it in. now when i know i should eat but can’t find the energy, i open the app and look at what i have. this helps my executive functioning get going. i still have days where i forget to eat but knowing what i can eat and deciding not to eat is still SO much better than when i didn’t know what to eat, didn’t want to go check, and just gave up on eating. a few things i’ve noticed and have suggestions for — - it’s kind of clunky to share with people in your household. you have to share each storage space and each list individually. it’s clunky but not totally unusable. i wish you could just share a “home” and then all the spaces or lists in that home is shared. - i wish there was a tagging system! there is a category system where you can categorize things into vegetables, dairy, snacks, etc. you can even make your own categories. but! you can’t put something in multiple categories. i want to be able to tag things as a kind of meal like “breakfast” or as part of a recipe like “deli sandwich”. then if i’m looking for what to eat for breakfast, i just have to filter by its tag. if i’m checking to see if i have everything to make a deli sandwich, i just have to filter by its tag. - i wish it was easier to add unique products. you have to go through the motions of searching something in the database before you can click to add a unique product. and if you happen to type something that’s already in the database, there is no option at all but to click that search result. like if we could have FoodShiner’s database along with our own personal database that the user populates, that would be really cool. - i LOVE the stats feature. i kind of wish there were more robust stats like which space gets thrown more? consumed more? what item runs out really fast? that kind of thing. 5/5 all the way though! please donate to the creators! ❤️
For a free app, there are a lot of great features
I just recently downloaded this app and I'm very impressed so far. I gave it 5 stars because as I said in the title, for a free app, there are a lot of great features. It also deserves a tip IMO as it's a very well built app. That being said, it would be awesome if lists in the native Reminders app could be imported to the Shopping Lists in yours. I use Siri all the time for this. Additionally it would be awesome to be able to bulk move all the items from the shopping list to storage. Thanks for such a great app!
What’s in the freezer?
Take the guesswork away with this awesome app. Itemise your food as it goes in and out of the freezer, fridge, or pantry. Great to help you inventory what you have on hand, and what you’re running low on. I’ve searched high and low for an app like this - where others have failed this app has excelled. Bravo!
Great application
Thank you for this app, I think it will help us to manage our food products better. The barcode recognition is amazing, detect practically all items. Search bar is less good though, don’t find anything. Is there a problem here ? Hopefully we can create product ourself. An other thing, I can’t reuse a product I have created with another expiration date. Maybe you can do something here too. Good job !
